In the 1800s when Britishians were ruling on India, they
founded the railway station of Kathgodam Railway Station. Their contribution
was also useful for Uttarakhand’s railway development. Basically, Lord Dalhousie who was the father of
Indian Railway at that time. British government started to cut the dense forest
of kathgodam and established the railway tracks.
To extend the track from kathgodam isn’t possible, because
the hilly area starts from there. So, Britishian’s decided to develop the last
station of Kathgodam. One unknown fact also exists in the development of
Kathgodam which is that people were also got frightened when they saw the
running steam engine first time on the track slowly-slowly. They felt that this
heavy & large iron vehicle may be run on to the plain land.

And the time came when the very first train ran from Lucknow
to Kathgodam on 24th April 1884.
This date is also celebrated on the occasion of the establishment of Kathgodam Railway Station, Haldwani.
David Richardson saw many wild animals tiger, deer, etc. on
the way of Rudrapur to Lalkuwa, the British government decided to establish
this station in the queen valley of the United Province. British Government
already developed various railway routes in India such are Mumbai, Kolkata,
Agra, Lucknow, and Hyderabad. In 1851 Roorkee to Piran Kaliyar first steam
engine started and nowadays which runs every Saturday & Sunday.
Now, various railway routes are connected to Kathgodam such are Delhi, Agra
Jaisalmer, Lucknow, Dehradun.
Railway Routes for Kathgodam in 20th Century
In 1952, the bell on kathgodam was established which you can
see on the platform. And, it makes much more historical this station. The first
long route was connected to Kathgodam from Guwahati in 1908 and the train name
is Avadh Tiruhat. In 1920, Kathgodam
to Agra connected via Kumaun Express.
In 1994, Kathgodam to Delhi via Ranikhet Express. In 1999, Kathgodam to Ramnagar via a Passenger train service.
Railway Routes Extension in 21st Century for Kathgodam
In the 21st Century, the Indian Railway started some more
routes. In 2004, Kathgodam to Dehradun via Doon
Express. In 2007, Kathgodam to Delhi via Sampark Kranti train. On 21st March 2012, Kathgodam to Delhi via Shatabdi Express. Many trains are
functioning from Kathgodam to Lalkuwa, Moradabad, Jammu, etc.

Khutani, Sattal, Khurpatal, Jim Corbett,

Padampuri, Dhari, Dhanachuli, Bhatelia, Mukteshwar,

Tourist Places Near By Kathgodam
Uttarakhand’s places are full of adventurous and memorable
for everyone. It’s also known as Devbhoomi.
If you go to Bhimtal from where you can enjoy the paragliding as well as also
in the Mukteshwar. Cave Garden, Lovers cum Suicide Point, Naini Lake are located in Nainital.
But, if you want to see the Himalayan
ranges then you would have to go onto the height like Mukteshwar, which has a
height of 7,500 feet above sea level
while the height of Nainital is around 6,500
feet. You should also visit the Tea
Garden & Ghantiwala Temple
in Ghorakhal, Bhalu Gaad Waterfall, Chauli Ki Jali, Mukteshwar Mahadev Temple in Mukteshwar.
